Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is Water World's operating season?
A: Water World is open traditionally from the last weekend in May until Labor day, weather permitting, with some closed days at the start of the season and at the end of the season, because of schools being in session. Please click on our season schedule button on this web site to find out exact operating days.
Q: What are Water World's operating hours?
A: Water World is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., weather permitting.
Q: What does "rotating attractions/services" mean?
A: Many of our summer staff are still in school during these days, so we are not able to operate all of the attractions. We are able to keep open about 70-75% of all attractions, however, and we will always keep our premier attractions open. Some food service facilities will be affected during this week, also. Click on our season schedule button on this web site for exact days.
Q: Are swim diapers required on tots?
A: Yes, swim diapers are required on tots 3 and under. Swim diapers may be purchased at the gift shop for $.50.
Q: What can I bring in to Water World?
A: Personal flotation devices, including children's water wings, are not allowed in any of the attractions. Picnic lunches may be brought in, but alcoholic beverages, beverage containers that are not factory sealed, and glass containers of any kind are not allowed inside the park. Barbeque grills are not allowed. Pets are not allowed unless they are a guide animal used by a visually disabled guest. Portable umbrellas and tents are not allowed, for safety reasons.
Q: Must I pay admission, even though I am not going to swim?
A: Yes, all guests are required to pay admission to get into the park. There is no way to separate or regulate those who are not using the attractions. Some chaparone allowances are made for special groups. Contact Group Sales, 303-650-7576. Guest Services offers a 30 minute sneak-a-peak. See guest services for details.
Q: Are there any additional fees once I get in to Water World?
A: In addition to food purchases, we recommend that you rent a locker for your valuables. We also offer optional Tube Rentals and our Tube Valet Service. Please click here for more information.
Q: Is the water heated?
A: Yes, we heat the water. Average water temperature is 77-80 degrees. This varies based on evening temperatures and current weather conditions.
Q: Do you rent towels?
A: No, but we do sell them in our gift shop. Average price is $6-$12.
Q: Is the food at Water World expensive?
A: No. The cost for a cheeseburger, fries, and soda is approximately $7.
Q: Do you have lifeguards on duty?
A: Yes. We have certified lifeguards on all of our attractions. Water World's 300 lifeguards are certified by the National Aquatic Safety Company (NASCO) which was founded in 1974 and provides lifeguard training and certification to a large percentage of the country's lifeguards. They have a notable record of safety and lifeguard training. NASCO has certified tens of thousands of lifeguards, and is continually putting research into their programs and teaching methods so that they can continue to be a leader in aquatic safety.
Q: Do you have an ATM machine?
A: Yes we do. It is conveniently located on the south side of ticket booth 12, directly across from Group Sales at the front entrance. There is a $2 service fee per transaction.
Q: What rules are there concerning dress code?
A: We recommend proper swimming attire. Cutoff shorts are accepted, only if there are no rivets on the shorts. Thong bikinis are not allowed. Any guest wearing clothing that is offensive, such as clothing with profanity, will be asked to change, or leave the park.
Q: What if I have baby food or medication in glass containers?
A: We will hold those particular items for you in Guest Services. No other items will be held.
Q: Does Water World offer rainchecks in case of inclement weather?
A: We will close our attractions for up to 60 minutes when unsafe conditions are present. Storms move quickly and conditions often improve within this time. In the event we cannot open our attractions with 60 minutes, you'll receive a ticket for return visit (in exchange for same-day ticket stub--no refunds are issued). Please be familiar with our 60 minute rain check guidelines (noted on your ticket back & park signage). While we are unable to issue rainchecks before 60 minutes of attraction closure, we do offer a raincheck wait list at Guest Services. Guests must present their ticket stubs in the event rainchecks are issued.
Q: Lost Parents?
A: We know when visiting with small children, you might be concerned about getting separated during the excitement of your visit. Before leaving the car, establish rules about holding hands or how far ahead or behind a child can walk. Discuss how to find each other if you somehow get separated. We suggest meeting at a landmark such at the Light House or the "Big Elephants" at the Big Top. Our uniformed team members and Guest Services are always happy to assist as well!
