Greetings to all Hard-Workin’ Fun-Lovin’, Sun-Seekin’ Media Types!

People always say to us that when community-owned Hyland Hills Water World opens on Memorial Day Weekend, summer has “officially” arrived in Colorado. So on Saturday, May 25, at 10 am, when the park’s giant iron gates are opened for the 2019 season, we will be celebrating 40 years of fun with you. Our goal is to put a giant cheesy smile on your face, your editor’s face, and, of course, your audiences’ faces! During the off season, we launched a new website, added some high-tech lockers, figured out some guest-friendly pricing options and tickets-to-your-phone technology for quick guest entry, made improvements at Lost River of the Pharaohs, and we added another beach-drink station called Bermuda’s where guests can enjoy a beer or beach cocktail of their choice. We are ready to party! This year’s 40th-year birthday fun will include all-season sweepstakes giveaways, surprise daily in-park giveaways, mermaid appearances, and a special catering menu for groups. On August 4, a giant day-long Birthday Party will be celebrated with music from the Wash Park Band. Other media-worthy events include:

• May 25, 10:00 am — THE IRON GATES OPEN FOR THE SEASON. You’re invited for the early-morning HOOPLA! (We will also allow some enthusiastic media to come in for a sneak peek on Friday, May 24, from 12 pm to 4 pm when we will open to a limited audience of season pass holders. Call me in advance to set this up.)
• June 16 — FATHER’S DAY BELLY FLOP SPECTACULAR
• June 20 — WORLDS LARGEST SWIMMING LESSON
• July 7 — LIFEGUARD GAMES
• July 21 — 2nd ANNUAL FIESTA DAY
• August 4 — BIRTHDAY PARTY Extravaganza

You’re welcome to visit throughout the season! So, if you are looking for the perfect summer backdrop or a unique summertime story idea, Water World has countless possibilities for you. Interview some of our 1000 teen workers from all over the metro area; or come ride one of our 50+ crazy, colorful aquatic attractions; or let us provide you with a behind-the-scenes water technology tour. Whatever your choice, your story will be set against Colorado’s only real beach backdrop for amazing photos or fast-action video. Also, while we would ideally like to host one huge “media day” to introduce everyone to Water World at the same time, we fully understand busy and varied media schedules. So instead, this letter is your official invitation to join us for a complimentary Water World visit, where, at your scheduled convenience, you and your spouse/kids (or a friend) can experience the park. We hope to see you this summer at Water World for EPIC sliding, splashing, surfing, and funnel-cake-eating F-U-N. As a reminder — Water World is open through Labor Day, from 10 am to 6 pm, weather permitting.
